초록

During the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between South Korea and Russia in 1990, they have made a rapid progress of their relationship in many ways, such as economy, culture, and personal exchange, and so on. Keeping abreast with knowledge and information society where personal and economic exchanges soar on the increase among the two countries, people realize that the competitiveness of a nation is recognized by symbolic and emotional factors, such as global brand image, corporate image, and national image, etc. and that the significance of national image is especially emphasized. National image indicates people’s favor ability and reliability toward a certain country/nation in politics, economy, society, and culture, which all form the whole nation. National image is regarded as one of the most important goals for a country to pursue ultimately. For this reason, welcoming the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between South Korea and Russia, it is necessary for us to examine national image toward the two countries in order to keep and reinforce the partnership in the future. At this point there exists a special meaning of this study.
