Abstract:
The setting and hardening process of concrete is accompanied by the development of heat of hydration temperatures. These present nonlinear distributions leading to tensile stresses that may exceed the strength of the young concrete, and cracks occur. In this paper, a numerical method is presented, to obtain the hydration temperatures and stress evolution during the first days, after concreting, considering the environment interaction and the concreting phases. The heat of hydration characteristics, to be implemented in the model, are obtained from a specific study with insulated concrete cube tests.
