Vector Mode effects in Few Moded Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers

Abstract

We numerically investigate the effects of vector mode evolution in FM-EDFAs and show that evolution of the transverse pump and signal intensities can have a profound effect on the detailed amplifier performance depending on the nature of the pump and signal modes involved.
