Toward Blind Nonlinearity Estimation in Back-Propagation Algorithm for Coherent Optical Transmission Systems

Abstract

Blind estimation of nonlinear operator product (p) in back-propagation algorithm is proposed. Significantly enhanced flexibility of nonlinear compensation is experimentally demonstrated in a 5x64-Gb/s WDM PDM-QPSK system over 1920-km SMF link with ~1.5-dB performance improvement.
