Experimental Distinction between Femtosecond Transient Demagnetization and Spin Current Dynamics in Metals

Abstract

Using terahertz emission spectroscopy we probe the elementary spin dynamics in ferromagnetic metal on a femtosecond timescale, and distinguish between the two major contributions – transient demagnetization and spin current by hot electrons.
