Abstract: Crop water deficit index( CWDI) is one of the important indicators in measuring drought severity.Analyzing the spatiotemporal variation of CWDI is an important means to cope with drought scientifically and effectively. Based on the weather data from 24 meteorological stations in Hui Ningxia Autonomous Region during 30 years, this study calculated the water requirement of wine grape by FAO Penman-Monteith model and decade drop coefficient method, and combining with effective rainfall, analyzed the spatiotemporal variation of CWDI of wine grape in Ningxia Hai Autonomous Region, and preliminary explored the drought frequency as well. Results show that, the CWDI of wine grape in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region first presents an overall rising tendency, then drops and then rises again. The maximum value of CWDI appears in the first ten days of June.
