ABSTRACT

In the smart era and time-bound lifestyle, people get restless easily and face lot of difficulties when searching for a parking space nearby their chosen location. Searching for available parking spaces in crowded cities causes traffic congestions and air pollution. With the emerging shortage of parking space and the annoyance of navigating the same location to find a parking place, secured smart parking provides on-time, real life solution and peace for drivers. The major goal of this chapter is to propose an IoT-enabled and network-based smart parking recommender solution, RecoPark. It enables cars to a parking space automatically across cities and to reserve it on the move. Optimal usage of a parking space is rewarded to encourage disciplined usage of the system. The novelty of this proposed recommender architecture is to predict parking space availability using machine learning techniques and reward those drivers for using the parking space in an optimum time. This proposed recommender, RecoPark, will provide distance-based parking spaces and parking fees are always inversely proportioned. Eventually this smart parking recommender will reduce traffic congestion in busy locations.
