ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case Study of Chris and Sally's House. Chris and Sally’s House is a demonstration project which forms part of the Building Research Establishment’s Innovation Park in Watford. Chris and Sally’s House demonstrates how a typical two-up two-down cottage could be converted and adapted to deliver the key objectives of helping people to age in place, sustaining their capacity and independence for longer through design in accordance with the principles of Design for Dementia. Chris and Sally are personas developed by Loughborough University based on their research into the experience of dementia and the support systems which can aid people living with dementia. People living with dementia and older people generally need a higher room temperature for comfort.
