Detection of Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells (BMSCs) in vivo by 7.0T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) was performed after stereotactic injection of SPIO-labeled BMSCs into a rat model with traumatic brain injury (TBI). It was demonstrated that noninvasive MRI tracing allowed dynamic monitoring of magnetically labeled BMSCs following transplantation and may be a good way to evaluate the capability of stem cells migration.
