Confirmation of Secondary Phases and Paramagnetic Behavior in Zn1−x Co x O (0.03≤ x ≤0.1)
The crystallite size and strain analysis carried out for ball milled Zn1−x
Co
x
O (0.03≤ x ≤0.1) through Williamson-Hall plot shows higher strain for lower crystallite sizes of Co doped ZnO. The presence of ZnyCo3−y
O4
secondary phases has been confirmed from the micro-Raman studies which could not be evidenced from the XRD patterns. The ratio of secondary phases to the wurtzite structural phase is improved largely with the increase in Co percentages. The paramagnetic behavior in the Co doped ZnO is observed
and confirms that the presence of Co dopant is not an essential parameter for the magnetic behavior but the attribution of its activity for the formation of secondary phases in the matrix is an essential parameter for the magnetism.
