Abstract
The effect of annealing and cathodic treatment on properties of oxide layer of the solid non-crystalline alloy Fe76Nb3Cu1 Si13.8B6.2 has been studied. Using secondary ion mass spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy the chemical composition of the surface and subsurface layers was investigated. Redistribution of elements in subsurface layer significantly affects the electrochemical corrosion of the alloy. High amount of oxygen in subsurface layer was detected.
