Abstract

This paper characterizes the avifauna of the Tsimlyansk reservoir shores. The bird population density and species wealth are estimated for the first time in areas exposed to different reservoir impacts: flooding, waterlogging, and drying of the reservoir bottom during level drawdown. The contribution of the Tsimlyansk reservoir to the formation of the regional avifauna is considered. The basic diagnostic indicators of ornithocomplex transformation due to changes in the reservoir level in spring and summer are identified, which is a prerequisite to discussing proposals on the regime management of the Tsimlyansk waterworks.
