Abstract
The pollution of hydromorphic solonchaks with Cr, Cu, Ni, and Pb oxides and with oil in southern Russia leads to a reduction in the activity of catalase and dehydrogenase and in cellulosolytic activity. According to the degree of negative effect on the solonchak biological properties, HM oxides form the following sequence: CrO3 > NiO ≥ CuO ≥ PbO.
