Abstract

Electrocatalytic hydrogenation of 5-, 8-nitroquinolines and 6,8-dinitroquinoline is carried out in a diaphragm cell in an alkaline medium on a copper cathode using skeleton catalysts (Ni, Cu, Fe, Zn). It is shown that the corresponding aminoquinolines are formed under the conditions used. No hydrogenation of the aromatic quinoline system occurs.
