Abstract
The stability of the stochastic dynamics of the RR interval, which, according to the concept of nonlinear stochastic tachometry (NST), determines the adaptation potential of homeostasis (APH), was used to estimate the homeostasis adaptation resources and health of high school students. With the calculated APHs, disturbed health was diagnosed in 40% of the adolescents and normal health in 28% of them, according to the NST criteria and the allowable decrease in APH stability. This corresponded to statistical estimates of health. The performance of mental tests significantly decreased the APH, which was partly accounted for by the emotional and stressful conditions of testing. The results obtained demonstrated the informativeness of NST and its efficiency for monitoring the health of children and adolescents, detecting disorders at early stages, and establishing objective criteria of physiologically admissible academic loads.
