Abstract
The conditions of the appearance of an unusual deformation zone consisting only of a forward slip zone during cold rolling and skin rolling are considered. The energy-force and structure parameters of metal deformation in such deformation zones are simulated. In this case, substantial energy saving is achieved; however, they can only be actualized in a real continuous mill by increasing the forward tension to the level that sharply increases the strip break probability. The process with such a deformation zone can be performed on a pinch-pass mill at an acceptable level of forward tension (up to 35% of the yield strength), and about 50% electric energy can be saved in this case.
