Coordination polyhedra PbO n in crystal structures

Abstract

Voronoi-Dirichlet polyhedra and the intersecting spheres method were used to analyze the oxygen surroundings of Pb(II) and Pb(IV) atoms in the crystal structures of 433 compounds. The stereochemical activity of the lone electron pair of Pb(II) atoms was quantified. This effect is responsible for the asymmetry of the coordination sphere of Pb(II) atoms and is manifested in a considerable (on average by 0.3 Å) displacement of these atoms from the centroids of their Voronoi-Dirichlet polyhedra.
