Oxygen photosorption on calcium carbonate microparticles obtained by dispersing a mineral calcite crystal

Abstract

The composition of an adsorbed layer of calcium carbonate microparticles prepared by dispersing a mineral calcite crystal in air has been investigated. The absorption spectra of the layer of microparticles have been obtained. It has been found that UV irradiation of the surface of the microparticles results in oxygen adsorption (photosorption), and the quantum efficiency of the photosorption has been determined.
