A new species of Conohyus (Suidae, Mammalia) from the Miocene of northern Thailand

Abstract
A new species of the genus Conohyus, C. thailandicus from the middle Miocene locality of Ban San Klang in northern Thailand is more primitive than those known in Eurasia, and it is very close to C. sindiensis and C. simorrensis. South Asia can be considered an important evolutionary and radiation center for suoids during the Miocene.
Kurzfassung
Eine neue Art der Gattung Conohyus, C. thailandicus, aus der mittelmiozänen Ban-San-Klang-Grube (Nord-Thailand) ist primitiver als die in Eurasien bekannten und steht morphologisch C. sindiensis und C. simorrensis nahe. Süd-Asien ist offenbar ein wichtiges Entwicklungs- und Wanderungszentrum für Suoiden während des Miozäns.
