Quantum stress energy in nearly conformally flat spacetimes

Abstract

A formula is obtained for the stress energy of a conformally invariant quantum field in an arbitrarily perturbed conformally flat spacetime. This formula is derived using the general properties of the stress energy, and does not depend upon the details of specific regularization procedures.
