Abstract

Parity quantum numbers for dipole-excited states of the nuclei Zr92 and Mo96 have been determined from azimuthal asymmetries of nuclear resonance fluorescence intensities induced with the linearly polarized photon beam of the HIγS facility at Duke University. This parity information is crucial for an interpretation of the investigated J=1 states as two-phonon excitations originating from inhomogeneous phonon coupling.
