Abstract
For separable, coupled-channel model interactions we show how to construct energy-independent optical potentials, . The elastic phase shifts and nuclear wave functions obtained from are identical at all energies with those of the conventional energy-dependent optical potential . Whenever there is strong absorption or a compound resonance has an extremely rapid variation with momentum.
NUCLEAR REACTIONS Energy-independent optical potentials. Separable interaction model; compare momentum dependence of conventional and energy-independent optical potentials; compare with phase-shift-equivalent potentials.
