Abstract

We report measurements of the lattice constant, electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and specific heat of UCu5xPdx for 0≤x≤2.3. Alloys corresponding to x<0.75 are antiferromagnets, with TN strongly concentration dependent. χ and C for x≥2 are consistent with spin-glass freezing. C/T for UCu3.5 Pd1.5 diverges logarithmically as T→0 K while ρ is linear in T at the lowest temperatures. The thermodynamic properties of this alloy are inconsistent with the Fermi-liquid theory down to at least 0.32 K.
