Abstract

Kaonic-atom x-ray intensities of elements Z=3, 6, 8, 11, and 20 were significantly reduced when the elements were in hydride form. The ratios I(ZHm)I(Z) have a noticeable Z dependence. Deuterides of C and O showed slightly less x-ray emission than their hydride counterparts.
