It is predicted that baryon trajectories continue to rise for quite large energies. The $\rho$ Regge amplitude, along with the direct-channel contribution written in the Khuri representation, gives excellent fits to the polarization and the differential cross-section data, even though the elasticity factors involved are quite small. At a given energy $W$, the direct-channel contribution is predominantly imaginary and comes mainly from partial waves in the neighborhood of $J\simeq \mathrm{Re}\alpha \mathrm{}\left(W\right)\mathrm{}$.
