Abstract

We have measured the ratio of resonance strengths for alpha capture on Li6 to the 4.77- and 5.16-MeV states of B10. We find ωγ(4.77)/ωγ(5.16)=0.102± 0.004. When combined with the accepted value for ωγ(5.16) we determine the E2 strength of the 4.77- to 0.72-MeV level transition in B10 to be B(E2)=21±2 e2fm4, in agreement with a previous measurement when center-of-mass corrections are properly taken into account. The agreement between our result and Kurath’s interpretive model for B10 improves when collective effects in the 1p shell are included.
