Abstract

The expression for Hooge's α for 1f noise has been derived on the basis of scattering of charged carriers by acoustic phonons in thermal equilibrium; α=(ms2kT)23exp(2β¯3)ln(fHfL), where m is the carrier mass, s the sound velocity; k the Boltzmann constant, T the lattice temperature, β¯ the mean phonon energy divided by kT, and fHfL a ratio of upper to lower frequency limits of 1f noise.
