2022, Journal of Affective DisordersCitation Excerpt :Based on prospective studies, the pooled rates of BD and MDD also were similar, at 9.52%/year [6.17–12.9] and 9.60%/year [6.43–12.8] (Table 3). Based on 5 reports with data for both BD and MDD subjects (Lewinsohn et al., 1995; Wozniak et al., 2004; Dilsaver et al., 2006; Goldstein et al., 2012; Shon et al., 2014) random-effects meta-analysis yielded pooled OR = 1.59 [1.24–2.05] (z = 3.63, p < 0.0001), indicating that risk of suicide attempts was significantly, 59% greater with BD than with MDD (Fig. 2). Suicide attempt rate was significantly correlated with exposure (years), based on Spearman nonparametric correlation (rs = −0.657, p < 0.0001; Fig. 3).
