SUMMARY

In a double-blind study, the effect of 5 mg orally administered bezitramide on post-operative pain was compared with that of 5 mg dextromoramide. In male patients, bezitramide had a stronger and longer-acting analgesic effect than dextromoramide. In female patients, there was a tendency in the same direction, without statistical significance. The side effects found in this study were negligible.
