Abstract

An organically modified layered titanate (OMLT) was used as a new filler to prepare PPS-based nanocomposite (PPSNC). The melt mixing of PPS with OMLTs led to an exfoliation of stacked-layers and achieved the nanoscale dispersion of titanate layers in a PPS matrix. Wear resistance of the PPSNC was excellent as compared with the pristine PPS.

PPS/maleic anhydride polyethylene (MA-PE) alloy with OMLT were prepared to enhance the tribological property of PPS. OMLT successfully behaved as the inorganic compatibilizer for PPS/MA-PE alloy, and the polymer alloy had an excellent friction and wear properties.
