Abstract

For pt I see ibid., vol. 27, p. 1063-9 (1994). A numerical finite difference approach is applied to the problem of defect sizing. The influence of size, depth, severity and material properties are investigated. Some agreement is found between the numerical results presented here, and an earlier analytical approach. Deviations from the are found, and explained in terms of simplifying assumptions model.
