Abstract
It is shown rigorously that for isotropic classical vector spin models the internal field hi at every non-isolated spin i is non-zero when the spin state is a local minimum; this result is proved for general isotropic exchange interactions. For Heisenberg spins, lower bounds on mod hi mod are obtained, which when applied to the nearest-neighbour +or-J0 model give a non-zero lower limit on mod hi mod .
