Abstract
EPR of carefully annealed crystals of SrF2 and BaF2 containing Ce3+ revealed a large number of sites of low symmetry, which appear to arise from a small distortion of the tetragonal site Tg(Fi-). One of these sites in SrF2 has been analysed in detail; it corresponds to a rhombic site of different symmetry from that previously observed in crystals with the fluorite structure.
