Multifocal Omental Mesenteric Inflammatory Pseudotumor (Plasma Cell Granuloma)

Abstract

Inflammatory pseudotumor (IP) is an uncommon benign tumor during childhood. The most common location is lung, and sporadic cases of IP with extrapulmonary involvement such as liver and abdomen are reported. However, the IP among the reported cases have appeared as solitary masses.

A multifocal IP in a 14-year-old girl presumed to result following an Entamoeba histolytica infestation is reported.

Zusammenfassung

Entzündliche Pseudotumoren sind seltene benigne Tumoren im Kindesalter. Am häufigsten wird diese Tumorart in der Lunge beobachtet, in seltenen Fällen kann sie jedoch auch extrapulmonal vorkommen, z. B. in der Leber und in der Bauchhöhle. Bei allen bisher berichteten Fällen imponierte der Tumor als solitäre Schwellung.

Im vorhegenden Falle wird erstmals ein 14j ähriges Mädchen vorgestellt mit multiplen entzündlichen Pseudotumoren, vorwiegend im großen Netz, die als Folge einer Entamoeba-Histolytica-Infektion auftraten.
