Abstract

The crude acetic acid extract of Tabernaemontana dichotoma fruits showed convulsive and spasmolytic activity. From the chloroform soluble fraction of this extract, eleven indole alkaloids were isolated and identified as (-)-apparicine, coronaridine, 3-ketopropylcoronaridine, dichomine, 19R-epiheyneanine, isomethuenine, 12 methoxy-voaphylline, voaphylline, vobasine, vallesamine and O-acetyl-vallesamine.
