Polyfunctional 2-substituted 3-oxoesters 4 and carboxylic acids 6 bearing a quaternary stereogenic center are synthesized in good overall yields and high enantiomeric excesses via SAMP/-RAMP-hydrazones. The absolute configuration is confirmed by X-ray structure analysis of 3-oxoester 4i and carboxylic acid 6a.
