Abstract

The total synthesis of both E- and Z-isomers of optically pure (S)-14-methylhexadec-8-enal (trogodermal) is described. Key steps involved Corey–Fuchs reaction, zipper isomerization, and different hydrogenation conditions for cis- and trans-isomers.
