Significance

Spiro[4,4]-1,6-nonadiene-based phosphine-oxazoline ligands (SpinPHOX) are readily synthesized by a very efficient route. These new ligands are applied to the challenging iridium-catalyzed hydrogenation of ketimines to afford chiral amines with up to 98% ee.
