Studies towards a fluorescence method for the determination of polychlorinated biphenyls in 1,1,1-trichloroethane transformer washings

Abstract

A fluorescence method has been investigated for the determination of polychlorinated biphenyls in transformer washing samples. Interferences from the transformer washing solvent, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, and trichlorobenzenes present in commercial formulations were overcome. Fluorescence measurement provides a simple and quick alternative to existing methods.
