Hydrogenation of carbon monoxide and ethene over Ni-doped supported Pt catalysts
Abstract
The hydrogenation of ethene and carbon monoxide over Ni-doped Pt catalysts has been investigated. The addition of Ni to Pt significantly enhanced the catalytic activity of the silica-supported catalysts, while it had little effect on the titania-supported catalysts. For both reactions, however, the activity of the titania-supported catalysts was substantially higher than that of the silica-supported catalysts. The variations in the catalytic activities are explained in terms of a lower sorption constant of ethene and an improved activation of CO, respectively.
