Bonding studies from charge-transfer absorption and magnetic circular dichroism spectra. Part 4.—Facial isomers of MCl3L3

Abstract

The absorption and m.c.d. spectra of two facial isomers of RuIII and OsIII of the form fac-MCl3L3 have been measured. As with previous work in this series, the identification of the charge transfer excited states enables us to order the molecular orbital energy levels for Cl and L ligands relative to the metal.
