Synthesis of benzyl- or pentafluorobenzyl-diphenylphosphonio(diphenylphosphino)methanide complexes of gold(I) and gold(III) and their use as C-donor ligands

Abstract

The salts [AuRn(Ph2PCH2PPh2CH2R′)]ClO4[Rn= C6F5 or Cl(C6F5)2, R′= Ph or C6F5] react with an excess of NaH to give neutral methanide complexes [AuRn(Ph2PCHPPh2CH2R′)], which react with gold(I) or silver(I) derivatives to form binuclear complexes of the types [RnAu(Ph2P[graphic omitted]X](X = C6F5 or Cl) or [(C6F5)Au(Ph2P[graphic omitted](PPh3)]ClO4(M = Au or Ag).
