Intermetal oxygen atom transfer from an FeVO complex to a MnIII complex: an experimental and theoretical approach

Abstract

Oxygen atom transfer (OAT) reaction between an FeVO complex and a MnIII complex resulted in the eventual formation of their corresponding FeIII and MnVO complexes. The reaction proceeded via an initial fast OAT reaction between the FeVO and MnIII complexes, yielding a half equivalent of a MnVO complex and a μ-oxo bridged FeIV dimer. The dimer regenerated the FeVO species via equilibrium, which then reacted with the remaining MnIII complex to produce another half equivalent of the MnVO complex.
