Germylformylation of terminal alkynes catalysed by a zwitterionic rhodium(I) complex

Abstract

The germylformylation of terminal alkynes is catalysed by the zwitterionic rhodium complex, [(cod)Rh+6-C6H6BPh3)](cod = cycloocta-1,5-diene); this highly regio- and stereo-selective reaction affords (Z)-3-germylalk-2-enals in 31–82% yield.
