Pulsed laser photolysis of Os(pp3)H2[pp3= P(CH2CH2PPh2)3]: kinetic selectivity for reaction with methane

Abstract

Transient absorption methods have been used to measure the reaction kinetics of Os(pp3) with hydrocarbons, following photodissociation of H2 from Os(pp3)H2; the kinetic selectivity per reactivè C–H bond for pentane over cyclohexane exceeds 80 and that for methane over cyclohexane exceeds 520, higher than any observed previously.
