Organometallic photochemistry in supercritical fluids: the reaction of H2 with [(η5-C5H5)M(CO)3](M [double bond, length half m-dash] Re and Mn) and the formation of a ‘non-classical’dihydrogen complex of manganese(I)

Abstract

U.v. photolysis of [(cp)M(CO)3](cp =η5-C5H5,M [double bond, length half m-dash] Re and Mn) at room temperature in supercritical Xe pressurized with H2, leads to formation of the dihydride, [(Cp)Re(CO)2H2], and the ‘non-classical’ dihydrogen complex, [(cp)Mn(CO)2(H2)], which is stabilized by the high pressure of H2.
