Ethylene insertion into the W–C bond of the η2-formaldehyde ligand system of W(PMe3)42-CH2O)H2 giving the oxometallacyclopentane derivative W(OCH2CH2CH2)(PMe3)2(C2H4)2 and related studies

Abstract

The η2-formaldehyde compound W(PMe3)42-CH2O)H2 reacts with ethylene to give initially the unstable oxometallacycle [graphic omitted]H2)(PMe3)2(C2H4)2; with propene W(PMe3)4(CO)H2 is formed and with butadiene the product is W(PMe3)3(η-C4H6)(η2-CH2O).
