Asymmetric syntheses from terpene alkanolamines. Formation of optically active 2-methyloctanal

Abstract

Metallation and alkylation (MeI) of the aldimines derived from various terpene methoxy amines and octanal1 produce, after hydrolysis, S(+)-2-methyloctanal in 11–75% enantiomeric excess.
