Introduction, substitution, and elimination of bromine at C-5 of aldopyranose peresters

Abstract

Photochemical bromination of penta-O-benzoyl-β-D-glucopyranose and tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-xylopyranose gives crystalline products with bromine in the axial site at C-5; substitution and elimination products derived from these are reported.
