(S)-(–)-spiro(4,4)nonane-1,6-dione, X-ray analysis and valence-force calculations

Abstract

The crystallographically related five-membered rings in chiral spiro(4,4)nonane-1,6-dione adopt a conformation intermediate between envelope and half-chair form but closer to the latter; the angle between the two C[double bond, length as m-dash]O vectors is 84°.
